First International Fireworks Forum Held in China

The first international forum on fireworks quality and technology began on October 21 in Liuyang, China 's renowned fireworks-making base in central China's Hunan Province.

The forum attracted major fireworks manufacturing and user countries and regions, including China, the United States, France, Britain, Germany, Canada, Japan and Hong Kong.

The forum passed the Liuyang Declaration, calling for attention to new materials and new techniques in making fireworks and to the setup of international principles and practices in fireworks production, sales, transportation, igniting and packaging.

The forum agreed to set up the International Fireworks Organization, which will hold its first session next year in Liuyang. The organization will meet once every two years in member countries or region in turn.
