Vice Premier's Study Tour on SOE Reform
Chinese Vice Premier Wu Bangguo toured east China's Shandong Province from 16 to 20 this month, making on-the-spot inspections over the reform of local state- owned enterprises (SOEs).
Wu visited some large SOEs such as China National Heavy-duty Truck Corporation and Qingdao Haier Group Corporation, a world- famous electric appliances giant.
He said improving the Party's style is vital to the SOE reform, and Party leaders in SOEs should forge closer ties with the workers and genuinely serve their interests.
The vic-premier also visited many SOE workers and held talks with them to solicit their opinions on the SOE reform.
Wu reinforced the importance of new ideas in technology and management and stressed that more talented young people should be sought and promoted.
