Seminar on Automation, Information Held in BeijingA three-day seminar on automation and information sciences opened here Thursday, as part of the activities to mark the 45th founding anniversary of the Institute of Automation under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA).The meeting collected 86 papers and invited well-known academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Some renowned experts were invited to give lectures, including Yu-Chi Ho, professor of applied mathematics and system engineering from Harvard University, Benjamin W. Wah, president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) Computer Society, and Daniel J. Dailey, president of the IEEE Intelligence Telecommunication Society. China has given priority to applying information technology in its economic and social construction. Founded in 1956, the CASIA is the first automation institute in China and has contributed to the development of China's economy over the years. |
