New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark Friday called for a new round of WTO talks, which she hopes will "underpin confidence of the world economy and stimulate growth." "A key political message which APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) must deliver this weekend is the importance of launching a new WTO round," she said in an address at the on-going APEC CEO Summit.
She said that the leaders of APEC economies, who are here for a top-level gathering, can invigorate that process through their willingness to act at bilateral, regional and sub-regional levels.
The New Zealand prime minister also praised the role of APEC, saying it has offered excellent models for cooperation between government and business.
