Health-Care Festival Highlights Traditional Chinese MedicineThe Second China International Health-Care Festival opened in this popular tourist city of southwest China's Yunnan Province Thursday, with nearly 400 enterprises from the United States, Canada, Japan, China and other countries attending.Hosted by the provincial government of Yunnan, the festival will give Chinese enterprises the chance to compete in the world market with their renowned traditional Chinese medicine and technological skills. Health food, medicine, and daily necessities as well as medical products for improving people's sex life, both produced at home and from overseas companies like U.S.-based Amway, will be on show during the five-day event. Experts will also give lectures and exchange their ideas on the development of the industry. "Chinese traditional medicine has made an outstanding contribution to man's survival," a delegate with the World Health Organization said, "and the festival will help to carry forward China's traditional medical culture and promote the development of the health protection industry". Yunnan, known as the biological databank of China, is home to more than 2,600 species of medicinal plants, which is about 65 percent of the country's total.
