China Int'l Computer Expo Reports Large Turnover

The Third China Dongguan International Computer Exposition, an annual event for ordering and investing in computers, communications and consumer electronic products, ended Wednesday in Dongguan, in south China's Guangdong Province.

The five-day exposition resulted in 253 trade and investment agreements, worth 1.715 billion U.S. dollars, surging 45 percent over the previous one.

Featuring more advanced technologies and products, the exposition attracted over 400,000 attendees, including many businesspeople from dozens of foreign countries.

A construction project at the Songshan Lake high-tech park in Dongguan has attracted widespread attention at the expo. A number of multinationals and foreign conglomerates showed investment intentions.

The exposition was arranged to coincide with the yearly autumn export commodities fair held in the provincial capital of Guangzhou, which is China's largest export event.

Dongguan, just an hour's drive from Guangzhou, is packed with over 2,800 IT companies, which turn out 80 billion yuan of output value and produce 7.6 billion U.S. dollars of exports annually. It has become the world's major manufacturing center for computer parts and components.
