Int'l Folk Art Festival Performs in Northwest Province

The Fifth China International Folk Art Festival staged a grand evening performance on Wednesday in the capital of Shaanxi Province, northwest China, marking the end of six-days of activity in the region.

Spectacular performances by art troupes from Italy, the United States, South Africa, Republic of Korea, Egypt, Belgium and other countries and regions have entertained the audiences.

The organizing committee presented prizes of International Peace and Friendship to artists before the evening gala began.

The international troupes will next perform in Hangzhou, a scenic city in east China, and in Beijing. The festival, which was launched last Friday, will close on October 28.

The first festival was staged in 1990. A total of 1,400 performers from 31 countries have taken part and 1.2 million spectators have attended the four previous festivals.
