China Eximbank Provided Big Loan to Sudan Power Station

An agreement was signed on October 15 between the Export Import Bank of China (China Eximbank) with Harbin Power Engineering Company Limited (HPE) for granting the latter a loan of RMB 1.08bn yuan for the construction of Sudan Power Station. This loan is so far the biggest one to Heilongjiang Province provided by China Eximbank.

As reported, the Sudan Power Station is the first foreign project of its kind completely undertaken by a Chinese enterprise, also China's first one in Africa.

According to authorities, such an important item as contracting the whole sets of power station equipment features a combination of capital, technology, and labor-intensity, which plays an important role in China's exports of electromechanical products and it can greatly promote the development of national economy. The implementation of the Sudan Power Station marks a breakthrough of Heilongjiang Province in undertaking foreign power station and proves the actual strength of the Eximbank in support of such projects.

Statistics showed that by the end of last September, China Eximbank had provided all kinds of loans totaling RMB190.8bn yuan for supporting exports of electromechanical and high-tech products valued at US$65.3 bn in all.
