Stamps Issued to Mark Sino-Egyptian Friendship
China has issued a pair of stamps as a part of activities to mark the 45th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Egypt.
Great progress has been made in bilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, trade and culture over the past 45 years thanks to concerted efforts of the governments and people of both countries, said Liu Jianhui, an official of China's general post office, at a ceremony held in Deyang of Sichuan Province.
One stamp bears the face of Tutenkhamon, boy king of Egypt. The other stamp features a portrait of gold-plated human head which was unearthed at Sanxingdui Ruins in Guanghan, southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The Sanxingdui site, dated back to some 3,000 to 5,000 years ago, considered powerful evidence of the diverse origins of Chinese civilization, contains the oldest and largest ruins of the ancient Shu Kingdom.
The stamps have been issued in Egypt simultaneously.
