Sino-Malaysian Relations Would Become Better in Future: Mahathir

Sino-Malaysia relations would become even better in future, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur.

China could become a great economic power in the future. Malaysia would be very comfortable with China as China does not have intention to occupy other countries, said Mahathir in an interview with Xinhua at his office here.

Concerning China's entry to WTO, Mahathir said, "When China joins the WTO, it has an obligation and privileges, its privileges are access to markets throughout the world including markets of rich countries. But it has also an obligation to open up its markets for other countries."

Though there would be some competition between China and Malaysia, the two countries could cooperate in various fields for mutual benefit, he added.

The volume of bilateral trade between the two countries amounted 8 billion U.S. dollars Last year.
