World Trade Center Missing People Drops to 4,613 in U.S.

The number of people missing or dead at the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York dropped to 4, 613, according to latest figures released by city authorities on Tuesday.

Over the last 24 hours, workers have recovered 3 more bodies from the ruins, bringing the total to 456 of whom 404 have been identified.

The September 11 terrorist attacks on the WTC cost the city some 100 billion U.S. dollars, with Mayor Rudy Giuliani predicting a loss of 1 billion dollars in revenue.

State Governor George Pataki asked for 54 billion dollars in federal aid to recover from the destruction of the WTC which fell to the ground as a result of the crashes of hijacked passenger planes.
