One Athlete and Two Weightlifters Banned for Doping

One athlete and two weightlifters have been banned for two years from competition after failing doping tests, the China Sports Daily reported on Monday.

Liu Jing from Southwest China's Sichuan Province, who was found guilty of doping in a test conducted on August 9, refused to receive the sample-B test and therefore was banned by the Chinese Athletics Association, said the report.

Meanwhile, women weightlifters Yang Xuewei and Qiu Xuexiong were also banned for two years after they tested positive for illegal substances on September 11, said in another report of the sports paper.

The Sichuan Weighlifting Team, to which the two lifters are registered, are subsequently banned from taking part in the forthcoming 9th National Games, which will be held in Guangzhou next month.

In another seemingly independent case, the Medical Commission of Chinese Olympic Committee in early August found banned substances in the Xipu training base in Sichuan Province, where Liu Jing received regular training, said the China Sports Daily.

After an investigation to the case, the Sichuan Provincial Sports Administration has imposed punishment on relevant personnels, said the report.
