FM Spokesman: China Opposes Use of Bio-Chemical Weapons

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi stressed Tuesday that China opposes terrorism of any form including the use of bio-chemical weapons.

Sun Yuxi made the remarks at a regular press conference here, saying China has consistently advocated prohibiting and eliminating bio-chemical weapons, and considers bio-chemical terrorism a danger to the whole world.

Joint efforts should be strengthened to combat and prohibit bio- chemical terrorism, Sun added.

When asked about the anthrax problem, Sun said China has not detected any cases of anthrax in the country and administrations concerned have taken preventive measures.

He said goods with anthrax bacteria are strictly forbidden to enter China by the law.

Strict inspection and quarantine on goods leaving and entering the country, international posts and express, as well as luggage of travelers to China will be carried out, he added.
