Overseas Delegation Visits Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum

An overseas delegation composed of relatives and descendants of participants of the 1911 Revolution visited Monday Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.

Ye Xuanping, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the visit.

This year is the 90th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution led by Dr Sun Yat-sen, which overthrew the feudal Qing Dynasty (1644-- 1911) and is considered the first democratic revolution in modern China.

Celebrations on the anniversary were staged in China's mainland, Taiwan, and Chinese communities overseas.

Sun Yat-sen is seen as an outstanding forerunner in the democratic revolution in modern China.

Nanjing is the place where Sun was inaugurated as provisional President of the Republic of China after the successful uprising on October 10, 1911 in Wuhan city, capital of central China's Hubei Province.

Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum, located in the eastern suburb of Nanjing, was founded in 1929 and now receives about seven million visitors each year.
