Over 3,000 Reporters Register to Cover APEC Meetings
More than 3,000 journalists from 517 Chinese and foreign media organizations have registered to cover the upcoming APEC meetings in Shanghai, Zhang Qiyue, spokeswoman for the China Secretariat for APEC 2001, said Sunday.

Of the 3,179 journalists, 2,035 work for 433 overseas media organizations, accounting for 84 percent of the total number of media organizations and 64 percent of all journalists registered to cover the meetings, according to Zhang, .

The press center for the APEC meetings, located in the Shanghai International Media Center, was formally opened to the journalists Sunday.
