French, Mexican Presidents Vow to Develop Exchanges

Visiting Mexican President Vicente Fox and his French counterpart Jacques Chirac Saturday said the two countries should share "a new dynamic of exchanges" when they met in French southern city of Toulouse.

The two presidents expressed the wish that a new dynamic of exchanges will be added to bilateral ties and French investment in Mexico is particularly welcomed, said Catherine Colonna, spokeswoman for French presidency when briefing on the meeting.

Fox and Chirac also talked about international situation in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States and the US-led strike of riposte on Afghanistan, said Colonna.

"The fight against terrorism, beyond the military part, will be a long-term fight on every front," said Chirac. He added that more actions should be done in the fields of justice, police, intelligence, finance and security.

Fox arrived Saturday morning in Toulouse from Germany, second leg of his tour that has already taken him to the Czech Republic. He will also visit Italy, Spain, Italy and then China's Shanghai, where he will attend the summit of the Aisa-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum.

Accompanied by Chirac, he visited plants of Airbus Industry and the assemblage pipelines of Airbus A330 and A340 on Saturday morning.

Mexico is expected to buy about 150 Airbus airliners in coming 10 to 15 years, reported Agence France-Presse.

In the afternoon, Fox will meet with university authorities in Toulouse and with French businessmen.
