Jalalabad Hit by US Strike as First Foreign Journalists Arrive
The eastern Afghanistan city of Jalalabad early Sunday came under fresh attacks by US jets which dropped several bombs as the first group of foreign journalists allowed into the country arrived at the city, CNN reported.
Meanwhile, as the Pakistan-based Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) reported on Sunday, some bombs hit an army installation in the east of the city, injuring at least six people, and two more bombs exploded on the outskirts of the city.
The foreign reporters were on a Taliban-organised trip to a village near Jalalabad where Taliban officials say at least 160 people were killed earlier this week when several bombs fell in the area.
All the foreigners in Afghanistan were ordered to leave just days after the September 11 suicide attacks in the United States.
