Russia Reaffirms Support for Comprehensive Peace in Mideast

Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Boris Bolotin Saturday reaffirmed his country's support for a comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East.

In a message to Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, Russian President Vladimir Putin "emphasized the importance of a just solution and a comprehensive peace in the Middle East and the importance of fighting terrorism," Bolotin said.

The message was delivered when the Lebanese prime minister met with the Russian envoy on international developments and bilateral relations, according to Hariri's Information Office

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the efforts being exerted to establish a just and lasting peace in the region based on the United Nations resolutions and the principles of Madrid.

"It is essential at this juncture to invigorate the efforts to activate the peace process, because the absence of a just solution for Palestinian cause and a just solution between Syrian and Israel and Lebanon and Israel, is the background that generates radicalism," the ambassador noted.

Hariri will visit Moscow at the end of this month, his office disclosed.
