140,000 People Visit Tibet During National Day Holiday

An estimated 140,000 people visited Tibet, known as the "roof of the world", during the week-long National Day Holiday which ended on October 7.

Liao Lisheng, an official with the autonomous regional tourism bureau, said that domestic tourists made up over 90 percent of the total.

The number of overseas tourists visiting Tibet, in southwest China, over the holiday period dropped markedly due to the uncertainty in international situation.
