Hong Kong Chief Executive Presents Honors, Awards

Tung Chee Hwa, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, presented honors and awards to 251 recipients, including spouses of three late awardees, during the 2001 Honors and Awards Presentation Ceremony at Government House Saturday.

Of the recipients of honors and awards, Professor Sir Harry Fang Sin-yang, Li Ka-shing, and Yeung Kwong were given the Grand Bauhinia Medal. There were 19 winners of the Gold Bauhinia Star, 17 the Silver Bauhinia Star, 36 the Bronze Bauhinia Star and eight the Distinguished Service Medals for Disciplined Services and the ICAC.

Ten Medal for Bravery awards were given Saturday - two Gold, five Silver and three Bronze.

Meanwhile, 44 persons were given the Meritorious Service Medals for Disciplined Services and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), 58 the Medal of Honor, 42 the Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service and 17 the Chief Executive's Commendation for Government / Public Service.
