Bush Says Diplomatic, Military Battles Against Terrorism Going WellUS President George W. Bush said at a press conference Thursday in Washington that both the diplomatic and military battles against terrorism are going well.All of the military missions are being executed "according to plan" and "all is strong and united on the diplomatic front," he said at the first prime-time news conference of his presidency, exactly one month after the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. He said that several hundreds of terrorist suspects have been arrested so far and 24 million dollars of financial assets of terrorists have been frozen. Bush said that the U.S. is driving the Al Qaeda terrorists "out of hidden caves and bring them to justice." Bush said that the threat from terrorism is "ongoing" and his government is taking "every possible step" to protect the country from further attacks. The FBI warning of possible threat Thursday may not be the last one, he added. Bush urged the American people to go back to their lives, take flights and go to work, saying the terrorist attacks have tested the true character of American people. Bush spoke to reporters as the country is holding memorial services in different cities to mourn about 5,500 victims of the terrorist attacks. |
