Chinese Striker Linked to England Premier League Club

Chinese international striker Zhang Yuning is currently linked to a possible transfer to an England Premier League team.

The 25-year-old Zhang, playing with the Chinese first division side Liaoning Fushun, is being chased by the Leicester City, which stays at the bottom of the England Premier Football League with only five points after eight games.

Dave Bassett took over the helm of the Leicester City from his predecessor Peter Taylor later last month and faces a tough task to revive the team.

The former Nottingham Forest head coach wanted very much to get an excellent striker to strength its forward line. He contacted his former assistant Bobby Houghton, who is now head coach of the Chinese local side Sichuan Shangwutong, hoping to buy a superb forward from China to help his team out of the current dilemma.

Zhang, one of the favorite Chinese players of Bobby Houghton, got recommended by the former head coach of Chinese national team, who confirmed that a further negotiation is coming soon.

Zhang, as a substitute striker in the Chinese national squad, got little chance to play in the World Cup qualifers. The handsome guy said that he would prefer to move to Germany or Spain if he can make his own choice.

"I will be very excited if I actually can join the England Premier Leauge, but in my eyes, Germany and Spain's first division leagues are best. I think it will be easier for a forward to make success in Germany and Spain." said Zhang, who got his nickname " Cool Guy".

At the same time, Zhang's local Liaoning club said they won't set barriers to Zhang's move.

"We will promote our plays to extend their football career in the overseas high-level leagues and if the Leicester City will really field Zhang in the England Premier League games, our club will back up him to our full strength." said Cheng Penghui, general manager of the Liaoning team.
