China's Third Quarter Forex Trade Surges

China's inter-bank foreign exchange transactions volume amounted to 20.191 billion U.S. dollars in the third quarter of this year, with the daily trade volume hitting 301 million U.S. dollars.

The daily transaction volume was 35 percent higher than the daily figure for the second quarter and more than 70 percent higher than the daily figure for the same period last year, according to the Shanghai-based China Foreign Exchange Center.

The weighted average exchange rate of the U.S. dollar fluctuated between 8.2773 yuan and 8.2766 yuan in the third quarter.

The daily weighted average exchange rate of the Hong Kong dollar remained stable, fluctuating slightly around 1.0607 yuan, with the yen-yuan rate closing lower following the downward yen-U.S. dollar rate in the international market.
