Chinese Army Improves Quality

After two years of reform, the Chinese now has more skilled sergeants in all classes, who accounted for 70 percent of technical forces, sources with an ongoing working conference of Beijing Military Command said Thursday.

The People's Liberation Army, in the reform of the military service system, cut the period of compulsory service from three years to two years, and set the service year for sergeants at five to 30 years so that they can have a good command of sophisticated weapons.

All this shows an improvement in the quality of the country's military, said the sources.
