Mubarak Holds Talks With BlairEgyptian President Hosni Mubarak Thursday held tete-a-tete talks with visiting British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who arrived here earlier on a one-day visit to Egypt. They discussed the latest developments of a U.S.-led anti- terrorism campaign and the current situation on the international arena, Egypt's official Middle East News Agency reported. Blair said on his visis to Cairo that those who carried out the September 11 attacks on the United States would not succeed to " divide" the world, adding that the purpose of the attacks was aimed to "set in train a series of events that would divide people across the whole of the world ... divide Islam and the West." He vowed "We will stand united in our fight" against terrorism. Blair flew into Cairo from Oman where he met Omani Sultan Qabus bin Said and rallied 23,000 British troops on exercise there. During his visit to Cairo, Blair will have to reassure Egypt and its Arab neighbors over fears that the U.S.-led military action will extend beyond Afghanistan. Cairo is the last leg in Blair's shuttle diplomacy to drum up support for the U.S.-led anti-terrorism coalition as military operations against the Taliban regime in Afghanistan continue. Last week, Blair visited Pakistan and India.
