Murderer Sentenced to Death
A man who killed his former girlfriend's parents 15 years ago has been captured and sentenced to death by the Beijing Second Intermediate Court here recently.
Cheng Zhanming, of Beijing, started to date Miss Hu in 1980. Serious opposition to Hu's relationship with Cheng from Hu's parents caused Hu to break-up with Cheng in 1985.
To retaliate for being left by his lover, Cheng sneaked into Hu 's home and killed Hu's parents with a hammer, kitchen knife and dagger on November 16, 1985.
Cheng fled the murder site to hide in north China's Hebei Province for some 15 years. During the period, Cheng changed his name and married a local woman, Sun Haiyan, who aided Cheng's hideaway and was sentenced to a suspended two-year imprisonment.
