Afghan Opposition Claims Capturing Capital of Ghor Province

Afghan opposition Northern Alliance claimed Thursday morning that their forces have capture Chakcharan, the capital city of central Ghor province, after an overnight battle with Taliban fighters, according to the Pakistan- based Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).

Quoting opposition spokesman Mohammed Habail, the AIP said the opposition forces captured the entire city at 7:00 a.m. after severe fighting with the Taliban began at wee hours of the morning.

No information of casualties is available so far, said AIP.
