APEC Work Staff Get 1.14 Billion Yuan Insurance

China's Ping'an Insurance Company Shanghai Branch has signed a contract to provide insurance totaling 1.14 billion yuan (about 137 million US dollars) to volunteers and staff of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, which is scheduled this month in Shanghai.

According to the contract, each APEC volunteer worker will get a maximum life insurance of 50,000 yuan (about 6,000 U.S.dollars) and a maximum accidental medicare insurance of 20,000 yuan (about 2,400 U.S.dollars).

It is the second time Ping'an has provided insurance for a high-level international meeting. The first one was the 1999 Fortune Forum held in Shanghai.
