Taliban Warn Uzbekistan of Firm Revenge

Spokesman for the Taliban regime Mullah Amir Khan Muttaqi on Wednesday warned neighboring Uzbekistan of firm revenge should the Uzbek soil be used in the US-led military action against the Muslim regime, according to the Pakistan-based Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).

"Our government has made a final decision to fight back should the Uzbek soil be used in the U.S.-led military action against Afghanistan," said the spokesman, warning the Uzbek government to be careful of its national security and the safety of Uzbek people.

He said at least 10,000 Taliban fighter have been deployed along the Afghan-Uzbek border, who are ready to defend their homeland.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov has agreed to strengthen anti- terrorism cooperation with the United States, including offering air bases and other military facilities for the U.S. military actions.

Reports said 1,000 U.S. Army soldiers arrived in Uzbekistan last week to prepare for a ground campaign from there into Afghanistan.
