Memorial Gathering for 1911 Revolution Held in WuhanA grand gathering in memory of the 1911 Revolution was held Wednesday in Wuhan, the capital of central China's Hubei Province, the site of a major uprising by revolutionaries to topple the government of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).Ye Xuanping, a deputy chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the gathering together with 1,500 officials and representatives from different circles. Ma Man Kei, another CPPCC National Committee vice chairman, wrote an inscription for the occasion. Jiang Zhuping, secretary of the provincial committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), delivered an address to commemorate the revolution and spoke highly of what was done by the revolutionaries led by the well-known revolutionary forerunner Sun Yat-sen. The 1911 Revolution is regarded as the end of the feudal dynasties and the beginning of the modern era in China. Both China's mainland and Taiwan province celebrate the anniversary on October 10 every year.
