Lunar Exploration Planned, Permanent Residence Eyed in 10 Years

A renowned Chinese scientist revealed a noticeable timetable for lunar probe at the China Aerospace Industry Hi-Tech Forum, which closed Tuesday in Beijing.

The State Aerospace Bureau (SAB) and the European Space Agency have formally launched the aerospace "Double Stars" program to jointly study the magnetosphere - the magnetic field that surrounds Earth. The human will establish permanent residence on the moon by 2010 and this is to mean Chinese people will appear on the moon a decade later.

SAB Director Luan Enjie confirmed the above-mentioned target in his academic report, "Policy and Perspective of China Aerospace Development", submitted to the forum.

"New-generation launching vehicles will be improved to realize manned space flight and to form its Chinese own system", Luan said in his report.

Chinese scientists have proposed various plans for lunar exploration in the past 10 years and the China's Space Activities white paper issued by the government last year has definitely proposed the feasibility study of deep space probe with emphasis laid on lunar exploration.
