French Military Team of Liaison Joins US Command, Says French PM

A French military team of liaison has joined the United States command center in Tampa, Florida, earlier on Tuesday.

France will be "correctly informed" of the US operations, French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin said on Tuesday.

As head of the French government, Jospin said that a vote of the parliament is not needed before France decides to join the U.S. military strike and promised that the government will keep the parliament well informed.

Apart from logistic support, "actions of intelligence, opening of airspace, naval cooperation and other types of support (to the U.S.) are now being studied," Jospin told the National Assembly, lower house of French parliament.

"It might concerns air forces and other unity of intervention for selective actions," he said.

"It is in this perspective that a military team of liaison has joined the American chief staff of command of the operation in Tampa, which will make us correctly informed," he said.
