DPRK Hopes US Strikes Will Not Destroy Peace, SecurityThe Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) expressed its opposition to any kind of terrorism, hoping the U.S.-led military strikes against Afghanistan would not destroy world peace and security, a DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tuesday.As a consequence of the Sunday US military attacks, the world is facing another war, the spokesman said in a statement. "It is the principled stand of the DPRK to oppose all forms of terrorism and any support to it. The DPRK has been consistently opposed to terrorism," said the spokesman. In opposing terrorism, the DPRK aims to seek world peace and stability, he said. " The method of combating terrorism should be in full accordance with such purpose in any case." "The use of armed forces or a war to kill innocent people and aggravate regional situation and disturb regional stability contrary to the purpose can not be justified under any circumstance," the spokesman said. "We hold that the action of the United States should not be a source of vicious circle of terrorism and retaliation that may plunge the world into war." The spokesman accused the United States of pursuing a hostile policy toward the DPRK by keeping it on a list of countries that back terrorism. "Under this situation the DPRK is following the situation with vigilance," said the spokesman. |
