"Golden Week" Yields China Near 25bn Yuan Tourism RevenueStatistics from National Tourism Administration and National Bureau of Statistics told that the just ended "golden week" tourism October 1-7 had yielded China a revenue of 24.98bn yuan from a nationwide 63.97 million exodus of tourists/times, registering a 7 percent and 8.6 percent growth respectively over last year.Specifically speaking, during the seven days, altogether 20.43 million tourists stayed overnight throughout the country and some 43.54 million tourists took part in one-day tours. Hotels and rest homes rented 58.6 percent of their rooms on the average, up 11.9 percent over last year. Of national scenic spots, 87 achieved a 6.2 percent growth in ticket income over last year. Of China's tourism revenue, some 1.17bn yuan had been from aviation passenger transport, near 0.92bn yuan from railway passenger transport, 11.2bn yuan from 26 key tourist cities, and 11.72bn yuan from other cities and scenic spots. It is reported that only one Taiwan tourist died in an accident by 17:00pm on October 7 and four traffic accidents happened during the holidays, making this golden week the one with least security accidents since 1999. Altogether 87 complaints were heard from relevant departments, at a rate merely 17.4 percent of that of last National Day and 9.2 percent less than last Labor Day. In some cities and scenic spots, no tourists complained about the receptions and over 90 percent of all tourists were satisfied with their tours. Meanwhile, a fact to be noted was that the number of tourists and tourism revenue from the October 1-7 "golden week" had all registered a 13.3 percent cut than last Labor Day.
