Milutinovic's Contract with China Continues, No Negotiations Needed

With China's first ever entry into World Cup finals, whether Milutinovic would leave or stay with China has become a focus of people's attention. On the issue adviser of Chinese team Ma Kejian says Milutinovic's contract with Chinese Football Association (CFA) will continue and no negotiations are needed.

Ma was the plenipotentiary of CFA when Milutinovic was introduced in at the end of 1999, who participated in negotiations with Milutinovic as well as the final contract signing during the four-country tournament in Guangzhou.

Ma explains the whole contract is divided into three stages in time order, first the group matches, second, the World Cup qualifiers, finally the 2002 World Cup finals in South Korea and Japan.

Therefore during Milutinovic's whole coach career in China, if the Chinese team fails in any stage the contract will be brought to an end automatically. While if the national team smoothly enters the next stage the contract is to be extended accordingly. If the Chinese team got qualified for the finals, the contract would be extended until the next year's World Cup finals in South Korea and Japan and that is the case now.
