Senior Official on China's Economic Development Tasks
China will fulfill seven tasks amid difficulties in the forthcoming five to ten years, Monday's " China Youth Daily" quoted Wang Mengkui, director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, as saying.
While addressing a forum which opened Sunday featuring industrial hi-techs in China, Wang said the seven tasks were to carry out strategic economic restructuring, speed up urbanization, accelerate the development of west China, obtain sustainable development, improve market economic systems, expand an open economy and raise people's living standards.
Wang elaborated on the seven tasks.
"Though we still have many difficulties, and some of them are even thorny issues, they are just 'growing-up troubles'", said Wang, reiterating that China's general economic development orientation would not change.
