Chinese Vice President Visits Renowned PhotographerChinese Vice President Hu Jintao paid a visit Monday to Ye Hua, a German-born photographer whohas devoted her life to the introduction of China to the world, and congratulated her on her 90th birthday.Ding Guangen, member of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Wang Zhongyu, state councilor and secretary-general of the State Council, also visited Ye Hua. Hu said that since she came to China in 1940, Ye Hua has worked hard for the great cause of the Chinese people's liberation and construction. He said that Ye Hua has made invaluable contribution to enhancing the understanding and friendship between the people of China and the world by introducing the great changes in New China to the rest of the world. He said that the CPC, the Chinese government and people highly appreciate her contributions. Hu said that Ye Hua has given all her love to China. The Chinese people regard Ye Hua both as a true friend and as a member of the family. Hu wished Ye Hua good health and a happy birthday. Ye Hua thanked the CPC and the Chinese government for their every care of her. She said what she has done for China has been out of love for the country and the people. She said that her life has been closely linked to China and that she has her roots in the country. She presented to Hu an album of the photographs she has taken. Ye Hua, born in Germany in 1911, is widow of late Chinese translator and poet Xiao San. She worked as a photographer for Xinhua during 1950-58.
