Northeast China to Host Fifth Ice-and-Snow Festival

The fifth ice-and-snow tourism festival is scheduled between December 1 this year and February 26, 2002 in Changchun, capital city of northeast China's Jilin Province, a local tourism official has announced.

Huang Wenhua, chief of the Changchun Municipal Tourism Administration, said the 88-day festival will be held in the local state forest park of Jingyuetan, which is 16 km from Changchun City, and has a 50,000-square-meter skiing ground.

Major activities during the festival will include a performance with ice and snow as the theme, snow sculpture exhibition, winter swimming championship, and other ice and snow sports programs.

Changchun, located in the central part of northeast China, has about three months of snow every year.
