Guangdong Raises Levels of Minimum Salary

South China's Guangdong Province has recently raised the levels of minimum salary by an average of seven percent, sources from the provincial labor and social security authority said.

The minimum salary levels of the province now stand at between 270 and 480 yuan over seven grades.

China established its minimum salary system in 1993. Since then, all the provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities except Tibet have issued and implemented the lowest standards for wages in their own areas, thus establishing, by and large, a minimum wage guarantee system.
