US Evidence Against bin Laden Enough for Indictment: Spokesman

Evidence gathered by the United States against suspected terrorist leader Osama bin Laden was enough for an indictment over the September 11 attacks in the United States, Pakistan's Foreign Office Spokesman Riaz Mohammad Khan said Thursday.

Speaking at a daily press briefing, the spokesman said the Pakistani side had been provided the material by the United States linking bin Laden to the terror attacks last month.

"This material certainly provides sufficient basis for indictment in a court of law," he added.

To a question, Riaz said British Prime Minister Tony Blair is arriving in Pakistan Friday on a day-long working visit. However, he declined to specify on the agenda of the visit, only saying that the current situation in the region will be under discussion between Blair and President Pervez Musharraf.

To another question, the spokesman said that Pakistan was checking the credentials of all foreigners associated with non- governmental organizations (NGOs) working within its borders.
