Pak Foreign Office Rules Out Military Operation In Afghanistan
Spokesman for the Pakistani Foreign Office (FO) Riaz Muhammad Khan on Monday ruled out any possibility of U.S. and UK military operations inside Afghanistan.
"So far as we are concerned, no operation plans, nothing specific has been discussed," Riaz told a press conference in Islamabad while answering a question suggesting that U.S. and British troops would launch attacks against Afghanistan within 48 hours.
He reassured cooperation with the United States in the so called "war against terror," adding that no detail of operational plans has been received from the United States.
To a question regarding the diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the spokesman said the relations between the two countries have geographical compulsions, which require a continuing contact and relationship between Islamabad and Kabul
"Afghanistan depends on Pakistan for food supplies and all U.N. humanitarian agencies, who have operations for Afghanistan, are working through Pakistan," he said, adding that severing of diplomatic relations with Afghanistan would result in catastrophe.
On another question, Riaz said that only the government accepted by all Afghans can bring peace, stability and unity to the country.
"If there will be no peace in Afghanistan, Pakistan would continue to face negative impacts. Three million refugees would not go back until there is peace in Afghanistan," the spokesman said.
