Party Publicity Chief Stresses Spirit of Sixth Plenum

Ding Guangen, head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), called on the country's mass media to study the spirit of the sixth plenum of the 15th Central Committee of the CPC.

He made these remarks Monday during an inspection visit to the Beijing-based People's Daily, China's leading newspaper.

Ding, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said that the mass media should study the important speech delivered by President Jiang Zemin on July 1 and the spirit of the sixth plenum.

He pointed out that the media should improve their work style and writing style in order to better publicize the spirit of the sixth plenum, adding that the work style determines the writing style.
