Shanghai Volkswagen Wins Quality Control Award

The Shanghai Volkswagen Corporation, a Sino-German joint venture, has won a national award for quality control, the first ever conferred in China.

The award, based on an evaluation of the quality control and economic effects of enterprises, aims to produce more exemplary enterprises, improve corporate performance and boost the national economy.

All experts of the evaluation committee agreed that Shanghai Volkswagen excels in terms of operation strategy, resources and information management, customer satisfaction and adaptability to the external environment.

New standards have been applied in the evaluation, based on prevailing international standards.

Shanghai Volkswagen's general manager Nan Yang said that they have learnt more about quality control from the evaluation process, which will help enhance the company's competitiveness in the international market.

Shanghai Volkswagen is presently China's largest car maker, accounting for 40 percent of the Chinese market. The company produced more than 200,000 cars of its Santana and Passat series last year.
