Asia-Pacific Weeks Concludes in Berlin
The third "Asia-Pacific-Weeks" (APW) came to an end in Berlin on Saturday.
Sixteen countries from the Asian-Pacific region took part in the two-week biennial activity and showed their special cultures to the German people. A lot of economic forums were also held in the last two weeks.
The biennial AWP that started on September 17 made China its focus this year. The festival co-financed by the German and Chinese governments contains almost all major forms of the Chinese culture and arts ranging from traditional operas, music and dances to costumes, sculptures and traditional handicraft articles.
A Chinese park opened in Berlin to introduce traditional Chinese culture in a concentrated way. Kongfu performances and antique teahouses in the park were magnets to German people. Fashion shows of Chinese traditional costumes also attracted a great number of people.
Dozens of economic forums to discuss China-Germany economic relations and Germany's opportunities after China's entry into the World Trade Organization provided extensive information about China to German entrepreneurs.
The first APW was held in 1997 and Japan was the "focal country. " India will be the next "focal country" in the APW in 2003, organizers said.
