Osama bin Laden Not to be Handed to Anyone: Taliban Envoy

Osama bin Laden is still in Afghanistan and the Taliban authorities will not hand him over to the United States, Taliban envoy said in Islamabad on Sunday.

Mulla Abdul Zaeef, Taliban chief representative in Islamabad, told reporters, "I want to make once again categorically that Osama bin Laden will not be handed over to anyone."

As the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden, Zaeef said that he is under Taliban control but is out of the sight of the people.

The Taliban envoy said that Osama bin Laden has received the Ulema Council decisions and their enforcement by Taliban supreme leader Mulla Mohammad Omar, however, there has been no response from his yet.

Referring to a former report that Osama bin Laden was missing, Zaeef said that Osama is in Afghanistan but he is in some unknown destination; he is in hide out and his place has been kept secret because of security.

Zaeef said that U.S. President George Bush should not issue orders to the Taliban as he is not ruler of Afghanistan to issue orders to the Afghans.

The Taliban envoy also warned that it will be a terrorist action if the United States launches attack on Afghanistan without providing any evidence. The Americans should realize that any such attack will be against the principles.

After the September 11 terror attacks in New York and Washington, the United States has charged Osama bin Laden as the most wanted suspect for the crimes and vowed to track down him and demanded the Taliban to extradite him for trial and punishment.
