Beijing Party Chief Meets HK Business Delegation

Jia Qinglin, secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met in Beijing on Sunday with a Hong Kong business delegation.

Also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Jia said Beijing is grateful to the Hong Kong people and business organizations for their support of the city's bid to host the 2008 Olympic Games.

They have made contributions to Beijing's economic development and urban construction, Jia said.

He also said that he hopes the younger generation of business leaders can continue to strengthen ties between Beijing and Hong Kong.

The delegation, consisting of young elites from the Hong Kong business circle, is here to participate in activities celebrating the 52nd anniversary of founding of People's Republic of China.
