East China City Hosts Fashion Week
A fashion week, called the 2001 China Qingdao Fashion Week and Garments and Decoration Exposition, opened Sunday in Qingdao, a coastal city in east China.
More than 3,000 foreign diplomats and businessmen were present at the opening ceremony, along with representatives from garment makers in nearly 20 countries and regions and over 20 Chinese provinces and municipalities.
Many well-known international and domestic brands are on display in the exposition.
Qingdao is also a major producer of home appliances and beer in China. Last year, the city's gross domestic product reached 115 billion yuan (US$13.9 billion).
