Chinese, Austrian Children's Choirs on Beijing Stage

The Vienna Boys' Choir and the China Central Television (CCTV) Galaxy Children's Choir performed on stage together Saturday to mark the 40th anniversary of CCTV Galaxy Children's Art Troupe.

The world-famous Vienna chorus presented a number of European classics, modern masterpieces, Austrian folk songs, especially works by Mozart and Franz Schubert.

The Galaxy choir, China's leading children's choir, sang Chinese and foreign masterpieces as well as Chinese folk songs.

The Vienna Boys' Choir, which has been called the "Singing Angels", has a 500-year history.

The Galaxy Children's Art Troupe, founded in 1961, has five children's professional art troupes, involving 150 actors and actresses aged between six to 15. The choir is frequently invited to perform abroad.
