Shandong Invites Public Bidding for Land Use

East China's Shandong Province will invite public bidding and hold auctions for the use of local state-owned land, a government official said Wednesday at a press conference.

Three regulations on land reserves, lease and auction will be enacted as of October 1, and are meant to increase the transparency of land use and stifle possible corruption, according to an official of the provincial department for land and resources.

The land for business, tourism, entertainment and commercial housing must be put up for public sale, according to the regulations.

Meanwhile, the land allocated for state-designated priority projects, infrastructure construction and new high-tech industry must be guaranteed.

All land put to use through auction and public bidding must be reported to the authorities, the regulations said.
