Gates Remains Richest American after US Terror Attacks

William Gates remains top seat on the richest American list, with his wealth of 46.8 billion US dollars, shrinking nearly 7.2 billion US dollars after the September 11 terrorist attacks in U.S. and the subsequent stock market slump, according to Forbes Magazine's annual survey recently.

The other nine people on the list of ten richest Americans also suffered a heavy loss of wealth. Warren Buffet, the second richest American, has his fortune reduced from 33.2 billion dollars before September 11 terror attacks to 30.4 billion US dollars.

The wealth of Paul Allen from Microsoft dropped from 28.2 billion US dollars to 24.2 billion US dollars. Lawrence Ellison from Oracle suffered a loss of 3.4 billion US dollars compared with his fortune of 21.9 billion before.

The losses of Jim Walton, John Walton, Robson Walton, Alice Walton and Helen Walton from Wal-Mart are still unknown. The tenth richest American, Steven Ballmer from Microsoft, now owns 12.6 billion US dollars as against his fortune of 15.1 billion dollars before.
